GREATER RANGES
PREPARATION WEEKEND - A An introduction to Skills needed for Trekking and Climbing in the Greater Ranges. This course is recommended by many of Britain's leading trekking companies, and, for those travelling to the Alpine, Himalayan or similar countries for the first time, is essential. Subjects covered include equipment choice, self-arrest, crampon technique, basic ropework, moving together, glacier travel and crevasse rescue. One day is spent at a local outcrop practising ropework and belaying skills, with an introduction to crevasse rescue, the other is spent on the hill practising axe and crampon techniques. All necessary specialised equipment is provided, but you are encouraged to bring and use your own equipment if practicable. EXPERIENCE: None. RATIO: As required COST: £180.00 per day for 1:1 or 1:2. Other ratios by arrangement. BOOK NOW GREATER RANGES PREPARATION WEEKEND - B Skills for Trekking and Climbing in the Greater Ranges. This course is aimed at those who have some experience of ropework and Scottish winter walking or climbing. The format is the same as for A above, with a higher degree of technical input. EXPERIENCE: Some summer rock or winter mountaineering experience. RATIO: As required COST: £180.00 per day for 1:1 or 1:2. Other ratios by arrangement. BOOK NOW |
