| Trip information Accommodation In Kathmandu we use the good quality Nirvana Garden hotel. Although only officially 3 stars, the hotel is very comfortable and offers a good standard of accommodation. Of particular note is its location in the Thamel district of Kathmandu, the heart of the tourism and shopping areas. It is set back from the road so it is quiet and peaceful, but the shops, restaurants and life that makes up Thamel is literally only a stone's throw away. You can look at the accommodation by clicking here. Flights Our trips are priced Kathmandu-Kathmandu, with everything detailed included. This allows a flexible approach when booking flights, as you can travel from wherever, and whenever, you want. We will give you as much help as possible when it comes to book your flights, and will recommend the current best options. Note that many flights to Kathmandu involve a stop-over at the likes of Delhi or Doha, but often for not to long. Visas You can purchase your visa in advance for your trip, which we would recommend, or upon arrival in Kathmandu. You can get to the Nepalese Embassy web site by clicking here. You currently do not need a transit visa for the commonest countries through which you will travel whilst en-route there. Arrival When you arrive at the airport, one of our representatives will be there to meet you after you have passed through customs and immigration. They will then take you directly to the hotel, and will give you any other information that you will need as regards the trip. There will be an evening meal for all of the team, as set out in the trek itinerary. At this meal, you will meet some of the trekking staff as well as one of the directors of our trtekking agency, and will find out more details about the trip. You will also be able to ask many questions about the trip, so that you are as prepared as possible for the coming days. Packing for the trip We will supply you with a tough trekking bag that can use during the trip. Into this goes the general kit that you don't need to have to hand during the day, such as spare clothing, washing kit and the like. This will be carried by the porters, leaving you to carry just a small rucksack with a few essentials in, such as camera equipment, a spare jacket, sun cream etc. Any possessions that you do not want to take on the trip you can leave in Kathmandu at the hotel. They provide a secure lock-up, where you can leave your suitcase and any kit you don't need, ready to retrieved on your return. Trek leader All of our treks are led by highly experienced and skilled leaders, with many years experience in leading groups. Some treks will be led by senior members of our trekking company staff and others by European trek leaders, most often by Pete Hill. On the trek We will provide you with more information about your complete trek with your booking confirmation. However, we do not like the 'coach party' approach, and are happy for people to walk at their own pace. There will be certain times when we need to get together again, such as for meals, but otherwise you will be able to have as much space as you want. Alternatively, being near the trek leader means that you can make the most of their experience and knowledge, as they will be able to point out items and placesof interest. Note that if you are away from the main group you may well find one of our staff walking nearby. This is purely for your safety and a requirement of the trekking regulations, and should not detract from your experience. BACK TO OVERSEAS COURSES HOME PAGE |
